As sweet as a love song! Faith Hill and Tim McGraw have one of the strongest relationships in the music industry — and their bond just keeps getting better.
The country couple first met at a Nashville gig in late 1994, when they were each seeing other people. At the time, the “Just to See You Smile” singer was dating Kristine Donahue, and Hill had just finalized her divorce from Daniel Hill. Two years later, Faith joined McGraw on the Spontaneous Combustion tour and sparks began to fly.
After a whirlwind romance, the “Don’t Take the Girl” crooner wed his country cutie in October 1996 in his Louisiana hometown. Nearly 20 years later, McGraw looked back on the romantic moment he proposed to his soulmate on tour.
“We were in the dressing room, here, June 26, 1996, and it was raining and stuff and we’d been on tour for a while together, and I joked around with her about getting married. And so I looked at her, grabbed her by the hand, and dropped forward [on my knees] onstage,” he recalled in a nostalgic video in October 2015. “She said, ‘We’re at a country music festival in a trailer house, and you’re asking me to marry you?’ And I said, ‘Yeah.’ So I went onstage … When I came back offstage, [I saw] a Sharpie with lipstick kisses all over it, saying, ‘Yes! I’m gonna be your wife.’”
The couple brought their love all across the country — and later, around the world — on their Soul2Soul tour. Between gigs, awards shows and recording hits, the pair welcomed three daughters: Grace in 1997, Maggie in 1998 and Aubrey in 2001.
Even through their most difficult moments, McGraw and the “Mississippi Girl” songstress have stood strongly by each other’s side. When Faith lost her father, Ted Perry, in February 2019, her husband shared a loving tribute on social media in his honor.
“He was the sweetest, kindest most gentle man I’ve ever known,” McGraw wrote at the time. “No man in my life has ever made such an impact on me as to how to be a human, a father and a friend.”

Seven years after getting sober, the crossover star told Men’s Health that his wife played a big role in his quitting drinking. "When your wife tells you it's gone too far, that's a big wake-up call," McGraw explained. "That, and realizing you're gonna lose everything you have."

Just shy of two decades after tying the knot, the country superstars remembered the moment McGraw proposed. The lovebirds shared several steamy snapshots on social media as they arrived at the 2016 Academy of Country Music Awards. “We’re headed to the ACMs with my beautiful wife. She’s hot!” McGraw teased in a behind-the-scenes moment on Instagram.

The overprotective parents revealed on the Ellen DeGeneres Show that they weren’t totally ready for their daughters to start dating. "Look, you don’t want to be mean, but when someone’s taking your daughter somewhere, you want to induce a healthy amount of respect — and fear," McGraw said after saying he strategically placed a sledgehammer nearby when one of his daughters’ dates picked her up from their house.

Staying strong. The "Let Me Let Go" songstress bravely addressed her husband’s fans after he collapsed on stage during a concert in Dublin, Ireland. "Tim is fine. We’ve all been a little bit dehydrated traveling so much. He’s been super dehydrated, and I apologize but I made the decision that he cannot come back out on the stage," she said at the time. "So drink water, people, keep yourself hydrated."

When tragedy struck Faith’s family, the "Highway Don’t Care" singer showed his wife his full support. "G Pa, Faith’s father passed away last week at 88 yrs old. He was the sweetest, kindest most gentle man I’ve ever known," McGraw wrote via Instagram. "No man in my life has ever made such an impact on me as to how to be a human, a father and a friend … I’ll never, in 10 lifetimes, be able to live up to his example, but man, he has set a mark that all of us should strive for. His legacy will live on through the 3 beautiful souls he raised, Faith and her brothers, Steve and Wesley."

Faith celebrated McGraw's 15th studio album, Here on Earth, with a family party. The Mississippi native shared a video of the couple slow dancing to the track "Damn Sure Do" via Instagram. "We have never listened to one of our new albums with just the girls. Ever," she captioned the post. "An unforgettable evening for what in my humble opinion is one of the greatest albums Tim has ever recorded." Faith added that her husband is "the man we all adore in the McGraw house of women."

Hill celebrated the pair’s 24th anniversary by sharing a goofy photo of the couple hiding their faces on Instagram. “To my guy...The one that stole my heart 24 years ago today.
Happy Anniversary my love❤️❤️❤️,” she wrote.
McGraw honored his love via social media, writing, “24 yrs.......These years have rushed by in a series of beautiful, painful and unexpected moments. We have loved, laughed and cried through exciting, inspiring and heartbreaking events in our lives together.”
The country crooner shared a video collage from the couple’s life together set to the his new single, “Hard to Stay Mad At.” He continued: “U have been a role model for 3 remarkable young women who have made me a better man than I ever thought I could be.....The future will surely hold more of all of these things It only matters if I'm with you It only works if I'm with you My oxygen only exists if you’re by my side Forever and always living and loving our way through anything @faithhill.”
