Crazy hot! It’s been eight years since Ryan Gosling charmed the pants off of our crazy, stupid hearts in Crazy, Stupid, Love , with his flawless Dirty Dancing moves and off-the-charts chemistry with Emma Stone . Oh, and did we mention his abs?
So what other way would we honor the actor’s 39th birthday on Tuesday, November 12, than with a roundup of Gosling’s hottest moments? (So basically every moment.) Happy scrolling!
True (Onscreen) Love
Gosling and Stone had such a perfect on-screen connection in the movie — including in their Dirty Dancing homage — that they've teamed up two more times since (for 2013's Gangster Squad and La La Land ).
"They love each other in real life, and they get on like a house on fire," the film's co-directors, Glenn Ficarra with John Requa , recently told Entertainment Weekly . "It wasn't a lot of heavy lifting on our part. It's making a move to hire the right chemistry."

In Bed With Gosling
Ficarra said that Gosling and Stone's connection was such a thing to behold, he and Requa just ended up filming them being, well, them. "The crew, I think, thought John and I were crazy because we said we were going to throw the script away. We were going to stick them in a bed together and keep shooting," he shared. "We shot for a really long time. We let them go, we let them talk about whatever they wanted, we poured a couple of drinks, and they just riffed. They really amuse each other in real life. At one point, I think it was Ryan came up to me, he was like, 'Is this okay, what we're doing? I’m not sure.' I was like, 'No, no, it's going to be great. Don't worry.'" And indeed they had nothing at all to worry about.

Dirty Gosling
Dirty Dancing Gosling, that is. Here's when Stone's Hannah exclaimed, "It's like you're Photoshopped!"

Can We Have a Bite?
In which the Notebook actor chomped on a slice in a perfectly tailored suit and we all swooned.
On his costar, Gosling said, "[Emma's] everything, all the time. There's no one like her. As soon as she signed on for this movie, I knew it was going to be good."

Case of the Giggles
When Ryan Gosling laughs, an angel gets its wings.
According to Ficarra, Stone won him and Requa — and Gosling — over by being such a powerhouse comedian. "We had narrowed down to a few incredibly talented candidates for Emma's part. They all read with Ryan, [who] was off screen, and I think in most cases they were a little taken by Ryan's presence, so nervous at the sight of Ryan," he told EW . "When Emma came in, she sat down, she was ready to go; Ryan walked in, immediately flubbed his first line, and she just laid into him, like, 'Oh, you're killing this, buddy.' She was the only one not to be intimidated by him, and in that moment John and I knew, 'All right, this is it, she's right for the part.' She continued that, and they just got along really well. They have a very similar sense of humor … they riff off each other really well."

Made to Measure

Simply Irresistible
Because we know you can't resist the sight of a man in a suit (serving flawless shade to Steve Carell 's Cal, by the way).

“Is This Bothering You?”
Gosling's Jacob makes Carell's Cal blush while giving him a naked pep talk at the gym.
Of course, little does he know that Cal is Hannah's dad. "[Emma] whole film depends on my character giving it all up for her," Gosling told MTV. "When she came in the room, it all made sense. Show me someone that wouldn't give it all up for Emma Stone, and I'll show you a liar."
