Too soon, man. Just... too soon.
James Corden was hosting the amfAR Los Angeles gala this weekend in El Lay when he opened things up by getting a little too close to the Harvey Weinstein scandal... and now, Corden is walking it back.

It all started the other night when he got on stage to open the gala and, while making his opening remarks, dropped a couple Weinstein jokes into the mix as you can see (below):

Yeesh.
Not great jokes, really -- and also maybe not the best time for them, ya think?!?!

And now, a couple days after the fact, James Corden has evidently thought better of the whole thing because he's just released an apology for trying to make those ill-advised jokes.
In a prepared statement issued on Sunday, Corden said (below):
"To be clear, sexual assault is no laughing matter. I was not trying to make light of Harvey's inexcusable behavior, but to shame him, the abuser, not his victims. I am truly sorry for anyone offended, that was never my intention."
Probably for the best.
What do U think, Perezcious readers?! Too soon to make Harvey Weinstein jokes like that??
